The Chicago Bulls missed the playoffs for the sixth time in the last seven seasons. Thus, it seems the team is less committed to Zach LaVine than before. According to bookie pay per head experts, Zach LaVine’s trade value dropped significantly compared to his previous asking price.

The 2023–24 season was LaVine’s most active year in trade speculation. However, the Bulls’ high asking price prevented any deals from fruition.

When considering a trade for LaVine in the past, Chicago insisted on receiving either first-round choices or All-Star caliber players.

Zach LaVine’s Trade Value

We don’t yet know the Bulls’ asking price, but we know that a deal this offseason is more likely to happen than before the February trade deadline.

According to an NBA bookie, acquiring a trade partner for Zach LaVine is the top summer objective for the Chicago front staff. Given his contract and current health situation, this may be easier said than done.

With a player option worth $48.97 million for the 2026–27 season, LaVine can earn an additional $89 million throughout two seasons. He had to miss most of the season (25 games) after having foot surgery in February for an ailment. With a four- to six-month recuperation period, LaVine would be ready for training camp in no time.

Bulls in the Offseason

NBA Trade Rumors – Zach LaVine’s Trade Value Dropped SignificantlyThe Bulls’ upcoming summer is shaping up to be crucial. Not only is LaVine a possible trade chip, but DeMar DeRozan is an upcoming unrestricted free agent who has expressed interest in staying put while simultaneously seeking a title shot.

Having sat out the whole 2023–24 season owing to complications from a knee injury that initially happened in January 2022, Lonzo Ball is supposedly working his way back after picking up his $21.4 million player option. The rumor mill is heating up that Ball will give next season a go.

Chicago is in a favorable position regarding the salary cap. Analysts noted that their decisions regarding DeRozan and Patrick Williams might alter the situation. Currently, they are $37 million below the luxury tax level.

The Bulls would be more flexible if they released LaVine from his deal. Maybe they’re trying to send a message that they want to start over after two consecutive losing seasons, or perhaps they want to make a huge splash in free agency or another trade with the money they save by not signing him.

In peak offensive form, LaVine is a formidable opponent. From 2018–19 through 2022–23, the 29-year-old regularly scored over 20 points a game.

2021-22 Bulls Roster

Featuring a talented and energetic lineup, the Chicago Bulls were a promising squad in 2021–22 that fell short of expectations. The team—including players like Alex Caruso, Nikola Vucevic, Zach LaVine, DeMar DeRozan, and Lonzo Ball—was doing very well as a unit.

With a solidified position as the Eastern Conference’s top-three seed by January, the Bulls’ prospects for a strong playoff run and a possible return to NBA greatness were sparked.

But then the injury bug hit and their bright season was ruined. Essential players on defense and offense, Lonzo Ball and Alex Caruso, were hurt badly. Especially noticeable is Ball’s absence, who hasn’t participated in any team activity since January 2022.
