North Dakotans have bet on sports at least once, whether with a friend, office pool, or online. Also, there’s a growing number of people who are playing online poker. However, state lawmakers failed to legalized North Dakota sports betting and online poker.
However, state lawmakers voted against sports betting and online poker proposals. They failed to recognize the popularity of online gambling. On March 30, the Senate voted against a resolution to put the legalization of online poker on the ballot next year. The vote came after the House approved the bill last month.
Also, the Senate voted against the legalization of sports betting in the state. The measure went through the House. However, Senate killed it right away. Some people who want to learn how to be a bookie criticized the lawmakers for being short-sighted.
Legalize North Dakota Sports Betting and Online Poker
According to sportsbook pay per head reports, North Dakota already has various legal gambling forms that include casinos, pull tabs, charitable games of chance, and lottery. Also, people engage in illegal forms of gambling, such as sports betting and online poker. People bet sports online even if it is unlawful to do so in the state.
Legal sports wagering took off since the Supreme Court allowed states to legalize it in their jurisdictions. At present, at least 20 states allow sports gambling. Also, six other states are on the way to legalize wagering on sports.
North Dakota should jump into the sports betting bandwagon today, or else it would miss out on potential revenue. North Dakotans are already wagering on sports. Some people even cross state lines to bet on sports.
Although sports betting revenue can’t solve all the state’s money problems, it is left uncollected because it is unregulated. Regulating the market will provide additional income to the state.
